II.1.5) Short Description of the contract or purchase(s) Transport Direct wishes to procure services that will re-supply the Transport Direct portal with sources of information on Car Park and Points of Interest Data from around England, Scotland and Wales. Bidders may wish to bid to supply only Car Park data, only POI data or to supply both sets of data. Providing Car Park data involves finding the location and attributes of publicly accessible car parking facilities in Great Britain. This material will be made available to the portal's users using a variety of journey planning capabilities and will provide an impartial and complete view of the car parking facilities that are available to the public. Providing POI data involves finding the location, names and attributes of different Points of Interest around Great Britain within certain categories. This material will be made available to the portal's users using a variety of journey planning capabilities including mapping and gazetteering. The material will provide an impartial and complete view of the places of interest that are available to the public. Both data sets will be integrated into the Transport Direct Portal and as such may be delivered to end users by computer or any other device capable of receiving and displaying such information and (including without limitation public kiosks and hand held PCs, mobile telephones, interactive digital television). The accuracy of both sets of information is paramount to Transport Direct. The owners and operators of the parking and POI facilities are important contributors to such a dataset and their buy in is essential. The existing Car Park dataset will be made available to the successful bidders. The existing POI dataset is obtained under license so will not be available form the contracting authority. Suppliers will be required to offer the on going supply of either or both data sets to Transport Direct, the content of which shall be managed and maintained in a manner that is appropriate for a dataset of this magnitude. In order to provide a complete service, potential suppliers may wish to form partnerships that demonstrate their ability to manage and supply data to third parties with the benefit of an excellent understanding of the car parking/POI industry in Great Britain.
